Open the file.
The case is a digital download. Nothing is posted to you. Choose one edition: A4 or US Letter, in colour or low-ink. Each edition contains the same mystery.
- Save and extract the main download ZIP. On Windows, choose Extract All; on a Mac, double-click the ZIP.
- If it contains edition ZIPs, choose A4 or US Letter, colour or low-ink, and extract that edition ZIP too.
- Open OPEN-FIRST.html inside the extracted edition, then 00-Print-and-Setup-Guide.pdf.
The ZIP or a PDF will not open
Check that the download finished. Extract the main ZIP and, if it contains edition ZIPs, extract your chosen edition ZIP before opening its files. Try a current PDF reader. Keep the original folder structure so the HTML links can find the right files.
If a file is still missing or unreadable, include its name and a short description when contacting support.
Which edition should I choose?
Choose A4 for A4 paper, or Letter for US Letter paper. Colour and low-ink versions tell the same story. Print one edition; you do not need all four.
The complete file includes text HTML companions under Accessible. Keep the hints and solution companions closed until you want them.
Make room
for the evidence.
Print single-sided at 100% / Actual size, with the paper size set to match your edition. Start with the sample to check readability and page edges.
Set out 01-Start-and-Answer-Sheet.pdf and 02-Evidence.pdf: 20 player pages in total. Keep the two hint pages and three solution pages separate. Together, these make the 25 core pages.
A pencil, spare paper and a clear table are enough. Decorative cutting, envelopes and folder labels are optional. You can play offline after downloading and printing.

Check the paper size and orientation against the print guide. Disable browser-added headers and footers when printing the HTML companions. If your printer still clips the PDF at Actual size, try its Fit setting and check the result before printing the rest.
A nudge,
when you want one.
Everyone investigates. No host needs to know the answer in advance, and no outside research is required.
When your group wants help, open 03-Optional-Hints.pdf. Keep 04-Solution.pdf closed until you have agreed on your answers. The matching HTML companions are separate for the same reason.
Designed for 2–4 adults. The 60–90 minute duration is a target; a blind human playtest and physical print check are still pending.
